Education. Certification. Standards. Community.

The CryptoCurrency Certification Consortium (C4) is a non-profit organization that creates unbiased education and certifications to help users of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and open blockchain technology negotiate the space safely, as well as to test and verify their knowledge and competence. In addition, C4 developed the first ever CryptoCurrency Security Standard, which provides an easy-to-understand security rating for private key management.

Why C4?

C4 provides education, certifications, and standards for everyone, regardless of their level of crypto knowledge, in the fast-changing, ever-growing blockchain technology space. All of our offerings are created and maintained by committees of subject matter experts. These experts share our commitment to provide unbiased content that makes the cryptocurrency space safer for everyone.

Prior to C4, there was no way for hiring managers and placement firms to validate their candidates' knowledge of open blockchain technology the way they could with other knowledge such as networking, security, and accounting. C4 provides certifications so that professionals can prove their knowledge of open blockchain technology and standards the same way they are able to assert other skills. For those new to these topics, C4 offers education to prepare for our certifications.

In addition to certifications, C4 developed the first ever CryptoCurrency Security Standard, which provides an easy-to-understand security rating for private key management. The CCSS is open and free for anyone to use but a system must be evaluated by a certified CCSS auditor to be certified as CCSS compliant by C4.

We’re glad you are part of this community and look forward to supporting your journey!

Our Code of Ethics

All cryptocurrency professionals who are certified by C4 recognize that such certification is a privilege that must be both earned and maintained. C4 certified professionals who intentionally violate any provision of the C4 Code of Ethics may be subject to disciplinary action which could include revocation of certification. A complaint process exists whereby suspected breaches of the C4 code of ethics by any C4 certified professional can be submitted anonymously online via this form.

There are only three mandatory canons in the Code. By necessity, such high-level guidance is not intended to be a substitute for the ethical judgment of the professional.

Wherever appropriate, apply decentralization to your clients’ problems.
Protect your clients, your neighbourhood, and the global neighbourhood in which we all thrive.
Be honest with yourself and with your clients.

Our Team

C4 is run by individuals who are passionate about blockchains and cryptocurrencies. Our staff strives to push C4’s mission of standards and education forward to create the foundation upon which the future global economy will be built. All of our committees are run by volunteers who are subject matter experts in their respective fields. These volunteers meet regularly to discuss and update the educational materials, standards and certifications as needed to keep up with the constantly evolving technologies.

Our Certifications and Standards

C4’s certifications establish a baseline for real-world, practical knowledge in a particular area. Just like a driver’s license proves you understand how to operate a motor vehicle safely, our certifications give you the confidence you need to use cryptocurrencies safely.
Our standards provide a deeper dive into the methods and technologies used to protect companies, systems, and their clients.
